I'm just going to stay on the couch all day.

I planned to sit down and write about Brooks's first birthday party that we had this past weekend.
It was awesome, by the way.
But I haven't even gone through all the pictures yet and I'm just not feeling it.
I wanted to keep up with the "Blog Everyday in May" Challenge, but obviously doing anything everyday is not for me.
I would like to update you all on how the Revolt Fitness plan is doing great things for my body, but even typing about it makes my body cringe.
I did loose another 1" off my thighs though, so high five.
But I'm just out of it today. And yesterday. And the day before that.
Why you ask?
Because for the first time in a year and 9 months, my monthly visitor has returned.
Too much information? Sorry, it's LITERALLY all I can think about.
I don't know if it's because it's been so long and I just forgot how awful it was, or if it really is worse, but this is the worst period of my life!
Cramps times a million.
Headaches like whoa.
Tired beyond belief.
Wanting to punch everyone, including small children, in the face? Check.

Has anyone else experienced this after babies? I thought not having to deal with it for so long was a blessing. But THIS is not worth it!

But to leave you on a happier note (and with a better mental image than me curled up on the couch close to tears) heres a recent Photo Booth session of me and my 1 year old. Birthday pics to come soon!

I feel a little better now:)

250 words of me!

I recently found the Story of My Life, blog
(do you know it? Do you read it? Do you love it??)
and at the perfect time! She's doing a "Blog Everyday in  May" Challenge, and I just HAD to participate. Coming up with blog topics is hard, and any help I can get is much appreciated.
So I am going to try, really try, to follow along.
But let's just get through day 1 and see where it goes, shall we?

Day 1: The story of your life in 250 words or less. Here goes...
I was born on February 20th, 1984, in San Francisco, CA. Our home in San Fran caught fire, and we moved back to Henderson, KY where my mom is from. I had scarlet fever as a child, and that, other than child birth, is the only time I've ever been in the hospital. My mom remarried when I was 5 and we moved to Evansville, IN. My stepdad happened to have a daughter the same age as me, and that blond haired little girl is still my best friend, despite the fact that our parents divorced 12 years ago.

I started working at age 14, at a local burger joint. From there I went to work for a pizza place, a telemarketer, a retirement home, an interior decorator, a card shop, a furniture store, a countertop business, doing marketing for a mall, and finally running my own business. Somewhere between the retirement home and the marketing job I got  degrees in Advertising & Public Relations, as well as a degree in Art from the University of Southern Indiana. I have used literally 0% of that education. But my freshman year of college I met this hot young man that would be my future husband, and 10 years later we are still going strong, with the addition of 1 dog, 1 cat, and 2 little boys. We are kinda hoping there are more babies to come, but I guess we will have to see what happens in the next 10 years!

Life's good.

Side note: I literally typed that out, copy and pasted into Word to see the word count, and it was 250 words on the money. I'm so money I dont even know how much money I am!!

I may have made a mistake.

My first week of being a work-from-home mom is quickly coming to and end, and, real talk, it has NOT been what I expected. There is just so much to do! I know that it will take awhile to figure out a routine, and to get Brooks on a regular schedule, so hopefully this week has just been a test and it will (fingers crossed) get better!

A few things I have learned this week:

1. The flu spares no one. Brooks was sent home from daycare last Friday with what they thought was the flu. So my last day of work was cut short (I ain't even mad) so that I could go pick him up. But then he only puked one more time, so I was like psssssshhhhhhh, that's not the flu. Well guess who got the flu? EVERYBODY WHO LIVES IN MY HOUSE. It started Sunday with Lincoln puking in the kitchen trashcan and didn't end until the last shit was taken on Wednesday morning. Not the ideal start to my new lifestyle....

2. Trying to run a business from home while simultaneously being responsible for an 8 month old is a kind of exhausting that I never knew existed. No lie, "What was I thinking?" has been muttered no less than 9,080,476 times this week. I use to spend 6 hours a day just playing on the Internet, and a couple days this week I couldn't even find the time to comb my hair.
I can't get anything done. And my house is disgusting.
The reason I can't get anything done. And why my house is disgusting.

3. Words babies either don't understand, or give zero fucks about:
stop
no
don't
please
seriously
their name

4. Brooks sleeps WAY less than I thought he would, and eats WAY more than I thought he would.
Eating.
Eating.
Eating.
So it's been....intense, to say the least. But there have also been some redeeming moments, such as getting to spend all day with the funniest, happiest baby I've ever met.

And getting to have french toast for lunch. That pretty much cancels out all the bad shit.

I love sleep. My life has the tendency to fall apart when I'm awake, you know? -Ernest Hemmingway

I haven't been sleeping much lately.
Between Brooks spitting his paci out, then immediately realizing he urgently wants it back, and Lincoln thinking that 1, 3, and 5 am are the best times to ask the days most important questions,
I'm averaging about 4.5 hours a night.
You know whats worse than having the piss scared out of you by waking up to find a 4 year old staring at you in the dark?
That 4 year old wanting to discuss, at depth, what happens if you mix milk and water together.
The fuck? This isn't science class and I'm not Bill Nye,
GO BACK TO SLEEP!!
But seeing the love these 2 have for each other is almost...ALMOST...worth being awake for.
Just kidding, I'd pick the sleep any day.

A new dawn, a new day, a new year, a new me!

Happy 2013!
But for serious, where did 2012 go??
Like I blinked and missed the whole thing.
It was a pretty good year, as far as years go.

We added a new little chunk to our family.

Our biggest little turned 4, and is like a legit person now.

We expanded our online business, and realized that our part time craft business could possibly, maybe, really be a full time business.

Which leads me to why 2013 is going to be the best, weirdest, most stressful but wonderful year.
Because I. Quit. My. Day Job!

Are you excited, because I'm super excited. But nervous. Sometimes when I think about it I want to throw up.

But I did it. I turned in my letter of resignation, and said see ya later, bitches! But not really, because I'm nice. So I told them I'll stay till they find a replacement for me (impossible, I know).
But the feeling of knowing that in a matter of weeks I will be out of the office and home, with my littlest little, focusing on the things that I love, is ah-mah-zing.

So fingers crossed that I
a) actually like/can handle being a work at home mom. I've never cussed out a baby, but then again I've never spent every waking minute with one, so....

b) Can actually pull this off. I mean, what if it was a fluke? What if everyone stops buying our stuff, and then we are poor, and then we have to sell our pets and possibly one (or more) of our children just to pay our bills?

Just kidding.

I'm dreaming big here people!! And in celebration:

So Sweet...

I got a Baby Bullet for Christmas last year, and have been waiting patiently for my little man to be old enough so I could puree the shit out of anything/everything.
That time has come.
Well, so far I've only pureed sweet potatoes, but soon enough I will be trowing all kinds of random stuff into this bad boy. And just look how happy he is about it:
Brooks, on the other hand, is a little skeptical. He's like "WTF is that guy all pumped about?? It's JUST sweet potatoes." Even so, he ate the WHOLE thing. I mean, look at those chubby cheeks...does he look like he's turning down food? No ma'am..
And just as a side note, I love this kid:
LOOK at that face!! I just want to eat him up.
