"Here's to You!"

Me and Rich's best friends are getting married in 3 short months. This is a big deal.
Because Rich is the Best Man, and I'm the Maid of Honor.
This means we have to give a speech.
We HATE giving speeches.
Neither of us has ever had to do this before, and we are FREAKIN OUT!!
We decided we want to give the toast together, that way it might ease some of the stress.(And if its awful I can blame it on Rich) But we have no clue what to say.
And theres the very good chance the we are both going to be drunk.

Here are some ideas we've come up with so far:

"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today..."
Wait, thats not right.

Maybe a rap?
"Wade and Sarah, you were meant for one another.
He's gonna go home tonight and make you a mother."
I should stick to my day job.

There's always the ole' standby, good for a few laughs:
"Married life has many ups and downs. May all of yours be between the sheets!"

Maybe something sweet and caring?
"Our greatest wish for the two of you is that through the years your love for each other will so deepen and grow, that years from now you will look back on this day, your wedding day, as the day you loved each other the least."
thats so cheesy!!

Help me!!!!!!
I need some ideas!!

Ahh! I feel the same way about toasting!

As in... I'm actually kind of hoping my best friend and I aren't best friends by the time she gets married :p... it's THAT bad. hahaha.

As for ideas, I wouldn't even know what to say about my best friend... Umm... do you have any inside jokes? How long have you known them? Embarrassing stories are always good... who introduced whom? That's about all I can come up with, sorry =/

Ugh - I hate toasts. Giving. Hearing. All the above. Blah.

The best toasts are NOT READ, SHORT AND SIMPLE, and from the heart :)

Thanks for the welcome! Giving a toast isn't that bad, but don't do it drunk:/ Just talk about funny memories you have with the bride, when she met her husband, wish them luck... You'll do great. Just say what you'd write in a card or letter to your friend.

I think you'll do great... just speak from your heart, thats when it comes out best and meaningful and they were be really grateful for your love too ;)

oh lady i have the best speech advice...i was MOH at my only girl cousin's wedding. i begged not to be the MOH but she insisted. she ended up having two; one to do all the work (not i) and the other to be her close connection (i)...but we both had to give speeches.

the other MOH made an on the spot speech and it suuuuucked! me, on the other hand, being the competitive person that i am, worked very hard on mine. i even got a bunch of people come up to me after i was done.

the secret...make it like a roast more than a toast. because i was her only girl cousin and because we are so different, i had a lot of material to use. also, the bf's sister helped me put it all together.

so that's probably more info than you need to know but hey you asked :)

Ha, I love that 'make you a mother' quote. LOL!
Goodness, I can only sympathize and think how lucky I am that my older sister doesn't even have a suitor right now, so thank GOD that I'm not even close to saying toasts.... That'll probably by my most hated part of being a maid of honor!!

Good luck. ;) Sorry.
