Not how I want to be awakened...

Last night, around 1 AM, my husband and I were awoken by the most awful shrieking sound. You know how something happens when you are barely awake and you get so confused by it? Well it took us a good 5 minutes to realize it was cats meowing. So our first instinct is to check on our own cat, who is getting a little elderly and has been having some issues lately. Richard (my husband) finds him safe and sound in the kitchen, minding his own business. Meanwhile, I realize that the meows are coming from right outside our bedroom window. It sounded like there were a hundred cats! So I thought for sure some neighborhood cat had just had a litter, and was super excited to rescue these little kittens! Richard goes out with his handy dandy flashlight to check out the situation, while I'm to lazy to get dressed so I just watch through the window. As he come around the corner of the house, the black and white cat that lives across the street jumps out of the window well around our basement window and darts off under our neighbors car. He goes in closer to see if there are in fact kittens, only to be met by her suitor! They were totally gettin it on! I have never witnesses two felines making love, but by the sounds they were making it sounded neither fun nor pleasurable. Hopefully, they will make their love nest somewhere else tonight!!
